Madame Web, Madame Who?

After the success of Venom, Sony decided to make more Marvel movies with the characters they own. Now that they own the rights to Spider-Man, that would make you think they would make movies about characters people care about, like Spider-Man 2099 or Silk. Instead, they released Madame Web. Madame Web is a movie about Cassandra Webb saving Julia Carpenter, Anya Corazon, and Mattie Franklin whom Ezekiel Sims is hunting. He came from the future and is here to stop the girls from becoming heroes and killing him in the future. The plot synopsis makes the movie sound like a Terminator movie with Spider-Man characters, which is a cool concept, but when you watch the movie you realize it’s anything but cool. So, to save you from wasting money on this awful movie, I am going to summarize the movie.

The movie starts with Cassie’s mom and Ezekiel Sims in the Amazon looking for a magic spider for some reason. When they do find the spider, they also find an ancient tribe covered with red paint and what looks like tree roots (making them look like Spider-Man) who are protecting the spider. She then ends up on a train where she meets Julia, Anya, and Mattie. Then Ezekiel Sims finds them, and Cassie gets everyone off the train. It turns out Ezekiel is going after them because he had a dream that they would kill him in the future, so he uses government technology to recreate their faces and de-age them to see what they look like right now. Let me remind you that he only knows what they look like from his dreams, where most of their face is covered, and how this movie takes place during 2003. Anyway, the girls figure out they must stay in a place without electricity. So, they hide in the woods until Julia, Anya, and Mattie go into a diner to eat, where Ezekiel finds them. Then Cassie drives her taxi (that she stole earlier) through the diner, crashing into Ezekiel and letting the girls escape. So, they hide in the woods until Julia, Anya, and Mattie go into a woods until Julia, Anya, and Mattie go into a diner to eat, where Ezekiel finds them. Then Cassie drives her taxi (that she stole earlier) through the diner, crashing into Ezekiel and letting the girls escape. Cassie realizes that she has to go to the place where her mom died to figure out what is going on so she drops the girls off at Ben’s since he doesn’t have any technology in his house(how is that possible) house and drives the stolen taxi to the airport to go to Peru. I forgot to mention that Cassie is wanted for kidnapping since the authorities think she kidnapped Julia, Anya, and Mattie. She then gets to Peru and finds the exact place where her mom died. How you may ask? Well, she had a single Polaroid of a tree in the forest and with that photo since that’s equivalent to coordinates. She then finds exactly where her mom died. She has a vision of her mom and learns that she has a disease that will put her in a wheelchair thus the reason her mom was in the Amazon looking for the spider. Ben’s sister then has to go to the hospital to give birth to Peter Parker, so instead of only Ben going with her, they all leave, causing Eziekel to find them. Cassie and Eziekel then fight at a fireworks factory. Ezekiel dies, and fireworks go off in front of Cassie, blinding her. The movie ends with Ben’s sister giving birth to Peter Parker and Cassie becoming blind and paralyzed.

This movie is one of the worst things I have ever seen. From the horrible writing to all of the villain’s lines being dubbed over by someone else, it’s a miracle that this movie even came out. The actresses gave performances that just said we were in this for the paycheck.

About the Contributor
Elhaan Khan
Elhaan Khan was born in Reno, Nevada in 2009. Though being born in the USA, Elhaan spent his toddler years in Bangladesh where most of his family is. When he was three years old he and his family moved to America where he would spend the rest of his school life. When he came here the first movie he saw was Guardians of the Galaxy, making one of the first memories he has of a talking space raccoon. In the past ten years, he has participated in a class play, learned how to play both the piano and guitar, found a love for sci-fi and horror movies, started reading a lot more adult comic books like Last Ronin and Invincible, etc. I look forward to covering stories for the Spartan Scroll.
