Monthly Medical: What Happened to Covid-19?
Do you remember that one virus that kept us in lockdown for over a year, shut down schools, and caused chaos in the streets. What happened to Covid, what’s going on with it now? Is it over, or is it just taking a break and will come back stronger than ever?
Right now it is looking like Covid 19 is gone. Its death count has decreased dramatically since the beginning of 2022 and looks like it will continue to drop. Many people were scared in the beginning as cases spiked due to the new variant. However, the cases had a major drop at the end of January and since then have shown no signs of spiking again. Even if it did spike, the virus wants to live, not to kill its host. Which means that if a new version of Covid arised, it would be less deadly but more contagious. That is the way most pandemics end, they repeat this process over and over again until the virus becomes harmless. I think that we have reached the start of this process and that is why Covid is looking like it will become close to harmless very soon. President Biden agrees as he states in his interview with the U.S. News, ¨The Pandemic is over…No one is wearing masks. Everyone seems to be in pretty good shape.¨ Biden’s statement is accurate considering that people don’t wear masks at stores and schools.
The statistics show us that we are on the verge of the end of Covid. But if you believe that there still is a risk and you want to wear a mask, that’s your choice. The elderly are still at risk so we should still be cautious. We hope this informs you about what’s going on in the world of Covid. See you next month for the next edition of Monthly Medical!
