Cross country is one of the toughest and least-known sports at Rosemont. Cross country is a sport in which the two teams send an individual to run an open-air race, typically 3–12 kilometers long. This sport involves teamwork and endurance and combines the competitive nature of any other sport. Cross country takes hard work and practice to do any good, and despite all this, Rosemont is one of the most successful teams at the school. For those who want to get involved with cross country, there is an informational meeting that happens early in the year; it tells you everything you need to know about cross country and how to sign up.
Coach Sion is the head coach of the cross country team and has some inspiring words for people just getting started with cross country. She said that “cross-country schools cultivate a sense of togetherness while making hard-working students.” They practice every Monday and Wednesday and use running day in PE as a part of their training. Overall, cross country is a very challenging sport that involves dedication and hard work, but it also creates a great work ethic for young students who are inspired to be great athletes.
