Rosemont has a new volleyball team! Tryouts started on Monday, November 27th, and went until Tuesday, November 28th. There were two cuts, and we found out who made the team on Wednesday, November 29th. Many students went to the practices but in the
end, only 24 students made the team. The practices started the week after. Practices take place on Mondays and Tuesdays every week. They start at 3:20 PM and go until 5:00 PM. Mrs. Castano, an athletics director and English teacher at Rosemont, is “excited to see the team grow and compete.” Coach Norkus, Coach Tanita, and the players hope to be undefeated this year. It is easy to tell they are a very talented bunch, so winning should be a piece of cake! Coach Tanita said this is the “most talented group we have had in the last nine years!” Everyone is working hard for their first game, which is coming up soon. But overall, the coaches’ “main goal is for all the kids to improve and move onto the next level,” said Coach Norkus. Coach Norkus and Coach Tanita see progression in the players all the time. “A player will come in not ever playing volleyball, play for two years…then become ten times better.” Their first game is on January 11 in the gym. Everyone has been working hard, so let’s hope they win their first game!
