On Friday, September 13, at Glendale High School, Crescenta Valley High and San Marino High played an exhilarating game, in which CV brought triumph to their name, winning 41-14. The CV football coach, Hudson Gossard led his team to victory. It also happened to be the Rosemont Night game. Many students from both Rosemont and CV attended, equalling an abundant amount of people. The cheer team from the middle school, CV, and the band performed together. Mrs. Risse, Rosemont Middle School Principal, enjoyed the game. “I love how both schools came together, and the cheerleaders and the band did a wonderful job performing alongside each other,” said Risse.
The entertaining events performed by the cheer team, band, and color guard were followed by many people sitting and cheering in the stands. The performances raised school spirit in the crowd dramatically. The game was thrilling and genuinely pleasing to watch. CVHS presented a series of plays that would make any football fan proud. With the crowd cheering them on in roaring enthusiasm, CV made the first touchdown in the starting quarter, starting off with a strong lead.
Crescenta Valley’s sophomore, Phoenix Vengco, number 24, was playing as wide receiver, and made four touchdowns with a whopping total of 119 yards. Dominic Saris, number 7 quarterback, was another key player, throwing for 196 yards and a touchdown.
Along with CV’s impressive win, they were unstoppable and finished the game with 234 rushing yards, the most rushing yards they’ve accomplished since August of 2023! This win was crucial, bumping their record to 1-2.
During halftime, the score was 21-14, CV substantially in the lead. While everybody was anxious, patiently waiting for the game to commence, CV’s color guard and dance had an amazing performance, The marching band also collaborated with this halftime performance. The crowd relished in this entertaining recital, they displayed that with a roar of cheers and applause. The movement of the color guard was mesmerizing as well as the music played by the band which was undoubtedly entrancing.
Throughout the game, CV was displaying quite the show for the viewers, CV’s tally never stopped increasing with score after score.
