ASB has been at Alpine Retreat, a camp near Lake Arrowhead, from Sept. 18 to Sept. 20, 2024. They took a school bus to go up the beautiful scenic route to camp. ASB did fun activities that kept them busy the whole time. Right when the students got to the camp they began with archery and ax throwing! In the following days, ASB did team bonding activities, campfires, and more!
At camp, ASB played a lot of fun games! During the campfire, ASB played charades and made smores! In the daytime before ropes course, ASB did some fun bonding activities along with learning how to be the best leader ! At camp there was also a cafe where students could get refreshing drinks. There was a lot of energy when ASB did archery tag. It sounds dangerous, but it was safe and loads of fun!
The head of ASB, Mrs. Khatch, will give an opinion on how ASB camp was beneficial to the students. “I think that this camp brings everybody together. I think it starts to form bonds and friendships that we usually couldn’t form in class because it puts us out of our comfort zone. Like with going on the ropes course the students can’t do that in class, so it just puts you in positions where you have to push each other a little bit,” Katch stated.
While being at camp there was lots of fun and excitement with both the teachers and students!. There was especially lots of thrill in the air that September afternoon when our very own teachers and students tried their hand at archery and ax throwing. There were lots of fun activities and games that all students enjoyed, which helped them prepare for the upcoming school year.
Abigail Jeon, an ASB member, will give thoughts on the activities during camp. “I thought it was really exciting and thrilling! It was also a really great moment because everybody bonded more by lifting them up and telling them to go a little higher during the ropes course.”
At the camp, there were lots of benefits to ASB being there, and every student has their own opinion about camp. All the students were affected in some way by these three exciting days.
Another ASB member, Kathryn Miranda, will now share how this camp was beneficial to her. Kathryn stated,” It was really fun, and I felt especially bonded with the seventh graders this year because last year we did the camp in November, which was harder to bond with the eighth graders.”
Camp was a great experience for all the ASB students and teachers! It helped all of the ASB members bond, and in the future these bonds will help create ideas to improve our school. ASB member, Omar Sanchez , stated, “Yeah, I would go back to ASB camp. It was really fun, and I had a great time!” ASB had a great time at camp. Rosemont Middle School is excited to see what ASB has for us in the future!
