Anyone with younger siblings knows that their parents like to have them watch their younger sibling while they’re out of the house. Many people also think babysitting is the easiest thing in the world, give your sibling a tablet or some device and call it a day. But babysitting is so much harder than many think. The tasks of babysitting may appear easy. When your sibling gets hungry, you have to cook for them, when they want to make a huge mess, you must stop them. Students who wish to train to be good babysitters are highly encouraged to join the Babysitting Training Club!
The Babysitting Training Club is a club that trains people to be a fun and safe babysitter. Run by Suzanna Bodnar, it is guaranteed you will learn to be an entertaining babysitter! The Babysitting Training Club meets every Friday in Mrs. Cho’s room, 1302, during lunch. You get to learn a new lesson every week. Whether it’s about safe play for a baby or how to hold one. The club teaches you about entertaining kids while keeping them safe from harm.
Many things are discussed at the club during the 30-minute lunch. When we went to the club on Sept. 27, the club members were discussing the positions in the club, such as Vice President and Assistant. They had a vote on the positions. They also take turns being presidents and assistants, so everyone gets a turn. Club members learn how to care for kids and understand the dangers of babysitting. Sage Nahle said, “I recommend this club for people who like babysitting…It can be a great experience if you want to have one too, Even if you’re a guy.” Said Sage Nahle, 8th grader. Student Suzie Bodner also finds value in this club.
I have an older sister and I am the youngest in my family. I have 57 cousins and I am an eighth grader!” Said Bodner
Suzie started the club because she believes teaching students about CPR, Heimlich, and how to care for a child in general is important.
“People need to know these techniques because we don’t know what is ahead of us in the future and some ways, it will help save someone’s life. Later in the club, I will teach members CPR and Heimlich. I just got my Red Cross training yesterday!” Said Bodner.
“I hope to help students learn how to take care of others, know safety, and know how to help kids. In general, if you babysit, you would help make the kids feel comfortable and give yourself a good babysitting experience, and maybe make some extra cash.” Said Bodner.
