On Aug. 30, 7th graders experienced their very first dance at Rosemont Middle School to try and have a joyous time with their friends.
Outside, students were allowed to play by the basketball courts while they delightfully ate Kona Ice. Even though it was extremely hot outside, people could still go into the cool and air-conditioned gym. Inside, people were doing conga lines and happily running around the dance floor.
“I liked the Kona Ice”, said Simon Boghosian, an eighth-grader who attended the dance. The Kona Ice truck was very helpful for students who needed to cool off. The dance was held in the gymnasium, where there were humongous speakers and lovely, colorful balloons strung up on the walls. “I didn’t really enjoy the music choices though, they should’ve included more songs from the 80’s,” said Claire Kamarzarian.
“There’s nothing really exciting about the dance, but it was cool that all of the students were involved. Everybody was doing the same dance at the same time, and it felt synchronized. That was the best part of the dance,” said Simon Boghosian. It seems like people’s thoughts about the dance were pretty mixed. Some people loathed it, and other people really loved it. All in all, the dance felt like a pretty good way to bring students together.
“I actually did like it, I thought it was really nice,” said Simon Boghosian. What was your favorite part about it? “I think it was funny when the last song they played was ‘Never Gonna Give You Up'”, Simon said. “My least favorite part of the dance was the long line at the Kona Ice truck,” said Boghosian.
