On Sept. 15, Rosemont held its annual ASB elections. The elections are held near the beginning of each school year in the amphitheater during the first period. When accepted into ASB, people who wish to hold an ASB position work on writing a creative speech, meant to get people to vote for them.
But what is ASB? ASB, standing for Associate Student Body, is an elective where students plan and participate in many school-wide activities. Being in ASB means learning and using multiple skills such as teamwork, listening, cooperation, and leadership. ASB is a big responsibility for students to take on, they handle some of the school’s budget, collaborate with teachers for events, and maintain student happiness. “ASB is an amazing group of people who really care for this school,” said student Kenzie Park, 7th grade ASB member. There were 11 representative positions available and with 28 people running for these positions, this year’s elections were extremely competitive. Of those 11 positions available, the following people have won, making them Rosemont’s new ASB representatives:
ASB positions: President: Penny Park. Vice President: Ruby Bernstein. Secretary: Kathryn Miranda. Treasurer: Aarav Patel. Publicist: Freya McCoy.
8th grade positions: President: Parker Johnson. Vice President: Cora deRidder. Secretary: Ella Willits.
7th Grade positions: President: Sophia Ghazaryan. Vice President: Abigail Jeon. Secretary: Layla Brewer.
Congratulations to all candidates. Go Spartans!
