Teacher Profile: Coach Olmedo
Who is Coach Olmedo? Coach Olmedo is a P.E. teacher who has been teaching here for almost 7 years. Coach Olmedo grew up in North Hollywood, about 25 minutes from here. He went to Grant High, which is in Van Nuys and got a baseball scholarship to play at Cal State Stanislaus. When Coach Olmedo was growing up, he wanted to be a baseball player. Baseball was the only sport he played at school, but he played any sport with his friends. In school, his favorite academic subject was science, he especially loved to find data and figure out how to use it. He can remember every single P.E. coach that he had from 7th to 12th grade.” my favorite teacher was my 9th grade P.E. teacher, who was also my Baseball coach.” states Olmedo. His first job was at an L.A summer camp, where they taught kids baseball, softball, and soccer skills to kids who had never played before. He then taught in Palmdale and Whittier before coming to GUSD. In GUSD he taught at Balboa elementary, Cerritos elementary, and Columbus elementary before coming to Rosemont.
