Hispanic Heritage Month
It is Hispanic Heritage Month! Hispanic Heritage Month takes place in September of every year. Hispanic Heritage Month honors Latino and Hispanic Americans. It honors their cultures, beliefs, religion, history, and much more. Hispanic Heritage Month was founded by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968, and it became more well-known thanks to President Ronald Regan. Rosemont has also been recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month. As you may know, every morning in the announcements, a Rosemont student comes up to speak about a famous hispanic person, such as Caesar Chavez, who was a Latino American civil rights activist and fought for the rights of farmers. There are also many local events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, such as the Festival of Laughs, which takes place at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event portrays hispanic singers such as Arnez J and Gary Owen. The event takes place from October 27-28. There are also many other events that take place in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Whether it’s going to a Hispanic Heritage Month event or learning more about its history and why it is celebrated, there are many ways to celebrate.
