After the recent short conflicts with Azerbaijan between 19 and 20 September 2023, Armenian refugees began to pour out of Artsakh as the area was without gas, required medical supplies, and basic humanitarian aid. As their buildings and apartments were being shelled in the conflict, locals feared for their lives and began to flee the region. Men, women, and children began to gather up supplies and with help from the Armed Forces of Armenia, began to leave their homes.
But this means that many fled without basic supplies such as clothing. So here at Rosemont and other places, people are beginning to gather donations of warm clothing for the refugees in Armenia. If anything, it is clear that our Armenian refugees need our help in this difficult time. And among these refugees, hundreds of them are presumed to be children.
These refugees have not been given enough attention by the public and must have their needs addressed. They need warm clothing for cold conditions. As thousands more begin to pour in, people not only in Armenia, but other places in the world are worried about the condition of these refugees. Teachers from Rosemont are accepting donations of warm clothing for the children and other refugees who are being forced to leave their homes with little supplies. At Rosemont, donations are welcomed any time in Room 1202, Ms. Khachetorian’s classroom. When she heard of the conflict and evacuation, Mr. Khatchetourian said she was upset, “To hear that a part of it (Armenia) was being taken over and destroyed, and knowing that I may never be able to go to Artsakh.”
This goes to show that even teachers can help others in need. And if others start recognizing what is going on in Artsakh, then we all can come together and help those refugees in this difficult time.
