7th Grade Counselor Presentation
On Thursday 9/15 and Friday 9/16 during each one of the 7th grade history periods, Mrs. Brown gave a presentation all about counseling and how she could help you. She also introduced us to a website called Xello, a career pathfinder. This wonderful website is descended to finding jobs that best fit you based on your personality, and learning style, and sets up a path for you to become that career.
Pros
We would rate the website 6/10, we think the idea of the website is cool and helpful. We found that the website was really easy to navigate and that the job rating system was also good. Some of the problems with the website were that some of the jobs that it finds for you are very bizarre and you would never think about getting them, but that is understandable. For almost everybody, most jobs are relatable and are well known but they also have some jobs that are less well known and are also really interesting.
Cons
Xello is a website with the right idea executed poorly. Some of the problems with the website were that some of the jobs that it finds for you are very bizarre and you would never think about getting them. The tests are long and time-consuming, and the job options are also sometimes poor. Lots of the jobs that are shown are confusing and are not very interesting, and also are completely unrelated to other jobs shown. Like the jobs, the quizzes are also confusing. They have oddly specific questions and are invasive.
We would rate the website 6/10, overall the website idea is really interesting and is targeting the right audience, but the website executed its task pretty poorly. They need to work on more jobs based on different aspects of your personality, and get rid of some jobs that are weird. But despite all of this, we think that kids should still check out the website because it helps give you an idea of what you could be in the future.
