Google Snake is an entertaining game for a lot of Rosemont students who have nothing to do or are just bored. The game is an interesting way of spending one’s time, which a lot of students do.
The game, made by Google, makes the player a snake on a grass field, where the player must navigate around the plain to eat apples which spawn randomly around the map. Eating one makes the snake’s tail grow, and one must be careful not to bump into it or any borders, otherwise it will be game over. There are also mods(modifier that one can easily access in the game’s settings which allow the player to change the type of fruit, the amount of it, the gamemode, the color of the snake, the texture of everything in the map, and more.
The original Snake game, according to medium.com, “was created by Taneli Armanto, a Finnish engineer, and it first appeared on Nokia mobile phones in the late 1990s.” In 2010, Google featured the game as an Easter Egg in its search engine, and since then, Google Snake has attracted lots of different players from around the world in its evolution.
Google Snake comes as an enjoyment to many students. Titus Park, a student who often plays the game stated, “It’s okay. I like how you can change the modifiers.” And when asked how often he plays it, he said, “Sometimes.”
Snake is one among many other classic game remixes by Google, ranging from Minesweeper to PAC-MAN. Accessing it and these other games is very easy, just having to google “snake”. Google Snake is only getting more popular.
