Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an American minister and activist who led the movement to end segregation and counter prejudice in the United States through the means of peaceful protest. He is famous for the “I Have a Dream” speech. On April 4, 1968, he was shot while standing on a balcony outside his second-floor room at the Lorraine Motel. On November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law. To remember his confident and bold achievement all GUSD schools will be closed on January 15th, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
